Default delayed write failed

well this is the error i get its not from gw although i do have a log file from some window that did popo up. the delayed write error i only get once and awhile.

what i do is click on short cut from desk top to gw.exe and some times i get in the game and can play but only 20 min max then the game will load either a screen or start of mission or leave out post my hd turns off and i need to reboot to veiw drive again.i can use this drive for anything doesn't seem to respond at all in any negative ways.
few days ago i did have the white box problem all of a sudden but that cleared up with a system reboot.

i then left my pc on with game for like 6 hrs and when i came back i was on logon screen and hd always turns off when i start gw now.

have run ccleaner and now avg anti spy. but still doesnt work not sure what delayed write failed means?

In brief, it means that windows can not write cached data to the hard drive. It could be any data, gw.exe or some background task that may be running. This may be a windows issue, it may be a hard drive issue. To help you address this issue, we are going to need some info.
First: What version of windows are you using? How big is your hard drive (if possible, what model is it)? How much free space? When is the last time you defragged the hard drive? Have you ran Scandisk lately? If so, what were the results?

Edit: Thank you for the update, looks more like a hard drive or memory issue. The hard drive info would still be nice. One more question to ask, as the data stream seems to have been corrupted, have you tested your RAM recently?

Disable the feature where you power your drives off after xx amount of time.

Also try repairing the dat file for GW or doing a full image.

It sounds like your hard drive is going into sleep (power down) mode, and not properly waking up. There are a couple of places where it can be set to power down.
First, go to Control Panel and open "Power Options". Under "Power Schemes", set "Turn of hard disks" to "never". You can also set "System Standby" to "never" while you're at it. These settings are mostly to save power on laptops.
If that doesn't cure it, you may need to get into the BIOS. Find a similar power management area in the BIOS and make sure it is either set to allow the OS to handle it, or turn off HD power down.
And if that doesn't work... well....

The fastest way to get to your power options is to right click and bring up display properties, screen saver tab, power button.
I would advise using the setting that Quaker advised. Just restart your computer once or twice a week and you should be OK.
That said, it should not really be an issue unless you run GW in windowed mode. As for testing memory: try Memtest86 (http://www.memtest86.com/). There is a free version you can download.
As for free space on your OS drive, I would advise keeping at least 25% of it free. Yes I know that others will tell you that you are fine, they are wrong. For performance I never allow my OS drive to exceed 50% capacity or less than 25G free, which ever is less.
